About The Zone
Clients in our treatment program volunteer every other week as The Zone provides groceries, clothing, household supplies and other items to local families in need. Thursday mornings are spent preparing food items for distribution. Items vary from week to week but can include fresh produce, rice, deserts, bread and pasta in addition to canned goods. Our vounteers direct traffic, register applicants and assist with carrying groceries to vehicles.
Our program places an emphasis on helping others in the community in order to increase a sense of social connection and personal responsibility. These activities also assist our clients with remaining focused on the present moment. People in active addiction have a tendency to be selfish so focusing on the needs of others is beneficial to the recovery process.
If you are interested in donating groceries, clothing, household goods or other items to the Zone warehouse please bring them to our administrative offices at 114 Catalpa Street in downtown Monroe (10 a.m. to 2 pm. Monday through Friday). For large quantities of donations or heavy items such as furniture please call the office at 318-323-0502 to arrange for pickup.
